What are Chronic Sinus Infections? (Sinusitis)
Chronic sinusitis is when you suffer from painful, long-lasting sinus infections several times per year. Normally, there is an underlying condition causing the sinusitis, that once treated can help solve the issue. Symptoms of chronic sinus infections include:
- Runny nose
- Facial pain or pressure
What Causes It?
Chronic sinus infections are usually caused by an underlying condition that makes it difficult for mucus to drain from the nose. When mucus can’t drain out foreign materials in the nose, (bacteria, viruses, etc) they multiply and cause infection. Common underlying causes include:
- Nasal blockages
- Narrow sinus passages
- Deviated septum
Often, our chronic sinus pain patients come in looking for a long-term fix for their issues because they’ve tried everything and nothing has worked. They no longer want to use medication because of unwanted side effects and at-home remedies don’t cut it anymore.
